HomeMaker Pro - Maid for Hire

It's Monday and it's HOT! I don't know about you all, but days with 95 degrees and higher makes me edgy and my A/C gets a Super Workout! If only I could live in a place where the temp didn't rise above 88 degrees...in my dreams (by a beach would be great too!)

Anyway....today's HPro is about Cleaning Day! I know, I know...I've said it a thousand times but I'm saying it again, "Pay yourself for cleaning!" and pick a day(s) to do your cleaning. No, I'm not joking!

How many times have you thought about hiring a maid JUST to clean the bathrooms? Soooo Many! I have seven kids and two bathrooms...need I say more? Didn't think so!

Also, does a maid come everyday...NO! So why in the world would I (YOU) do the cleaning everyday?

Now, how much to pay yourself and which day(s) to do your cleaning? That really depends on you but here's what I do:

How Much to pay?
I found out how much a maid would charge for cleaning my whole house, once a week...$100 a WEEK! Wow...that's a lot for doing what I do all the time. I decided what I could afford to pay myself and settled on $20 a week. My Man said he'd pay me $40 a week if I wear the Maid Outfit! Still thinking about that one;)

Some can pay more or less...it doesn't matter! It's just a reward for yourself. My mom calls it 'Mad Money'...money for YOU to spend on what YOU want.

Which Day to Clean:
I deep clean on Thursdays, that way my 'Thursday Date Night' is even more fun (Don't have a Date Night? We need to talk!) Also, the house is clean for the weekend and I don't have to worry, so much, about someone using a dirty bathroom. I try not to make plans on this day either...I leave it open so I can stay home and get my stuff done.

Thursdays may not work for you...so pick a day that does. You may only need a half day or maybe spread it out over the week. Whatever works for you!

What works for you? Have any great ideas? Let me know ;)

I actually really want to hire someone once to do a deep cleaning. That would make things so much easier to maintain.

I used to do a little each day, but just recently switched over to only cleaning on Tuesdays. It's awesome! I never thought to pay myself though. I'll have to get right on that!

I have a house cleaner (35 Euro every other week) AND I get my own "blow fund" every month. :) I would ask for both. Ha!

I'll trade you 95 degrees for my 60 degree summer any day!

With a smaller family, I've been doing light cleaning once a week and deep cleaning once a month. For me it's so much more manageable and I can actually do it all in one day. I'll probably get to the point when I need to deep clean more often, but that's what kids are for, right? Kristen, do your kids help with the cleaning?

I love the idea of paying yourself. My only issue is that I'm already taken! My plate is full!! I can't take anymore clients!! haha!!
Great plan, though and I hope I can work on it!
